Podcast
Dan and Jane discuss the ongoing case of 9 teenagers charged in the suicide death of a classmate. You can read about the story here.
WARNING: Dan says fuck in this one. Kind of a lot. Headphones is what we’re saying, people.

Dan’s note: Dan tells Jane to shut up during this podcast. Dan was using it as a dramatic tool, to try to cajole Jane into taking a firmer stand on an issue. But now Dan feels like a tool for saying it. Dan asked Jane, and Jane said she was OK with leaving it in the podcast. It needs to be clearly noted that Dan has ASSLOADS of respect for Jane (though it appears, not enough to not call it “assloads”), and that Dan in no way meant to demean or diminish Jane’s opinion in the matter. Dan and Jane know each other pretty well, and we call each other names frequently over the phone and in email, and pretty much every other chance we get. So for us, it wasn’t a big deal. But it might be for you, when you hear it. So Dan thought you needed to hear the back story.

I’m with Dan.
I was bullied in high school. Now, some twenty-odd years later and through the “blessing” of social media, one of the girls has contacted me to apologize.
For real?
Apologizing doesn’t even begin to cut it. That shit stays with you forever and wrong as it may be, the only thing that would have made me feel better is if someone had done something similar to them.
Those kids…are adult enough to break someone’s spirit. They’re old enough to take some heat of their own the little fuckers.

Thanks for the find, JenJen
I tend to agree with what Jen said above. Kids are mean and vindictive. And they know exactly what they are doing. I hated high school. Got through by the skin of my teeth. And it only takes one person not liking you for your life to become a living hell. Thank GOD social networking didn’t exist back then…
I STILL remember the phrase “fire fire burning burning save me save me” – the phrase my supposed “friends” would use when they thought I was being annoying. But I digress.
I am appalled by the lackluster response of the administration at the school. They knew it was an issue and yet did nothing to stop it. Part of the blood is on their hands.
Those kids deserve everything they get (and then some) and my heart goes out to the family of that poor girl who felt she had no other way out.
oh oh, great podcast! what about stalking. this goes WAY beyond criminal harassment. and the principal says the stalker’s lives have changed bc they won’t get to graduate with their class? good lord wtf is wrong w people.

Something’s effed up with that code, probably because of other things I’ve been messing with behind the scenes. But if you click the box, it should still work.
